BSc (Hons) Accounting And Finance
The BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance programme is designed to equip students with a strong academic foundation and practical skills for successful careers in accounting, finance, and related business fields. This course develops a deep understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and the wider economic and regulatory environment in which organisations operate.
BSc Accounting and Finance students explore key areas such as financial and management accounting, corporate finance, auditing, taxation, business economics, and financial reporting. The curriculum combines theoretical knowledge with real-world application, enabling students to analyse financial information, support strategic decision-making, and manage financial performance effectively.
A strong emphasis is placed on numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail and ethical practice—essential qualities for modern finance professionals. Students also develop transferable skills including communication, digital literacy, teamwork, and critical thinking, preparing them to operate confidently in professional business environments.
The course reflects current industry practices and global financial standards, helping students understand contemporary issues such as financial regulation, risk management, sustainability, and corporate governance. Learning is supported through case studies, practical exercises, and assessments designed to mirror real workplace scenarios.
In the final year, students complete a dissertation or applied research project, allowing them to investigate a specialist area of accounting or finance in depth while demonstrating independent research and analytical skills.
Graduates of the BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance programme are well prepared for careers in accounting, auditing, banking, finance, consultancy, and business management, or for further professional study and postgraduate education.
