The BA (Hons) Event Management students gain in-depth knowledge of key areas such as event planning and production, marketing and promotion, budgeting and finance, sponsorship, risk management, and customer experience. The programme also explores contemporary topics including digital events, festivals, corporate and sporting events, sustainability, and health and safety management.

A strong emphasis is placed on practical learning and real-world experience. Through live projects, case studies, group work, and industry-focused assessments, students develop essential skills such as communication, leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and creative decision-making.

The course is designed to reflect current industry practices, ensuring graduates are well prepared to meet employer expectations. Sustainability, ethical practice, and innovation are embedded throughout the programme, helping students understand how to deliver responsible and impactful events in a competitive global market.

In the final year, students complete a dissertation or applied project, allowing them to explore a specialist area of event management while demonstrating independent research, critical thinking, and professional competence.

Graduates of the BA (Hons) Event Management programme are well equipped for careers in event planning, festivals and exhibitions, corporate events, marketing and communications, hospitality, tourism, and venue management, or for progression to postgraduate study.

Entry Requirements Standard Root

  • Minimum 104 UCAS points

  • Any Level 3 subjects accepted

  • Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and Mathematics

Mature Applicants (18+):

  • Considered without standard qualifications if they pass all the university criteria.

  • Pass an academic interview

 

Assessment of Bachelor programmes is continuous and practical rather than based on a single final exam. Typical assessment methods include:

  • Portfolios and reflective journals

  • In-class activities and practical tasks

This course is structured around units or modules, where students are assessed as they complete each topic — often through a combination of assignments and project work rather than only exams.
